Volunteer Title: Elderly Nutrition Program Volunteer

Location of Position: Kitchen/Great Room

Responsible to: Community Café Manager or Designee

Purpose of the ENP Volunteer: The Senior Community Café provides a meal Monday thru Friday and is part of the South Central Connecticut Elderly Nutrition Project (ENP).  This is a program funded by a federal grant resulting from the Older Americans Act Title IIIC.  The purpose of this program is to promote good health by providing older Americans, particularly those with low incomes, with lower cost nutritionally balanced meals served in pleasant centrally located sites with other services and the opportunity for socialization such as in our Senior Center.

 Duties of the position:

Assist the Community Café Manager, her Assistant and other volunteers with all aspects of distributing food that is brought in from the subcontracted caterer to program participants. Including:

  • Set up and preparation of placemats, napkins, utensils, condiments, etc.
  • Plating and passing out food and beverages
  • Clean up including clearing and wiping tables and counters, washing dishes and pots and pans, etc.
  • Other related duties as requested by Café Manager.

Skills and Qualifications:  A person in this position is someone who enjoys being physically active and part of a team working in a busy environment.  They should be friendly, kind and dependable and willing to take direction from the Café Manager.

Time Commitment: Shifts are available Monday through Friday, 10:30-1:00
